Understanding Teen Mental Health and Wellness

Everyone has mental health, teens included. This workshop will provide information to help parents and caregivers understand and support positive mental health for youth in their teen years. Learn to distinguish between normal feelings and behaviour of young people, and signs and symptoms of mental health concerns and issues. Relevant resources will be shared.

Understanding ADHD & Strategies that Work

The session will be an overview of ADHD and how issues with impulsivity and/or inattention impact children's ability to manage their environments. The sessions will also explore the impact ADHD has on Executive Functioning and how it relates to managing everyday tasks, and meeting daily expectations at home and at school, including social, emotional, behavioural and academic demands.

What Every Parents Needs to Know about Non-Suicidal Self-Injury

When a person intentionally harms their own body, it can be confusing and troubling to the people who care about them. People who participate in non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) may, for example, cut, scratch or burn their own skin, without intending to end their life. This session describes what NSSI is, why it happens, and how to respond.
